Scripps Canyon Boat Charter

Join Dive N’ Surf and Waterhorse Charters aboard the Orion for an exciting two-tank dive adventure exploring the dramatic underwater terrain of Scripps Canyon in San Diego.

Located just north of the iconic Scripps Pier near the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Scripps Canyon is one of Southern California’s most unique and scenic dive sites, featuring steep canyon walls, sandy slopes, and incredible marine life.

What Will I See?

Divers descend into the canyon to depths around 70 feet where dramatic walls, ledges, and sandy drop-offs create a truly unique underwater landscape. The canyon walls are often home to:

• Spiny lobster hiding within rock ledges
• Swell sharks resting in eroded canyon pockets
• Schools of local reef fish and marine life
• Scenic canyon formations and vertical structure

Because the canyon continues far beyond recreational depths, good buoyancy control is essential to safely enjoy this advanced dive environment.

What Should I Expect?

This charter includes a two-tank guided dive experience aboard the Orion operated by Waterhorse Charters.

Trip Schedule

• Loading begins at 7:00 AM
• Mandatory dive briefing at 7:30 AM
• Departure at 8:00 AM sharp
• Return times vary based on conditions

If you miss the departure, you will not be permitted to dive.

Certification Requirements

Advanced Open Water certification is required for all divers joining this charter.

All divers must bring a valid certification card on the day of the trip.
