Yukon & El Rey 2-Tank Charter

The HMCS Yukon, a 366-ft Canadian destroyer, was intentionally sunk in 2000 off Pacific Beach to create an artificial reef. A strong west wind the night before caused the ship to take on water and sink several hours earlier than planned, surprising boats that came out to watch the event. Today it rests in about 100 ft of water on its port side in good condition, and a 2021 bridge collapse has created even more habitat for thriving marine life.

Intentionally sunk in 1987, the El Rey was originally a kelp harvesting vessel during the height of the kelp industry. Today, it serves as a vibrant wreck dive site, known for its colorful red gorgonians that remain largely undisturbed across the deck. While it has less vertical relief than some other Wreck Alley sites, the El Rey still attracts abundant marine life, with large schools of barred sand bass often gathering above the wreck.
